Intello, France’s leading three-year-old colt, remains on course for a possible mouth-watering clash with Dawn Approach in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville on August 11.
Dawn Approach faces an intriguing rematch with Toronado in Glorious Goodwood’s Sussex Stakes on July 31, but if he comes through that, connections said they intend to let the three-year-old travel to France.
Standing in his way if he does cross the Channel will be Andre Fabre’s Intello, who ran out a hugely impressive winner of the French Derby following a luckless run in the French 2000 Guineas.
He landed the Group Three Prix Messidor when returned to a mile at Maisons-Laffitte earlier this month and Pierre-Yves Bureau, racing manager for Intello’s owners, the Wertheimer brothers, is excited about seeing him back in competitive action.
“He came out of his last race very nicely and we are looking forward to running in the Jacques le Marois next,” said Bureau.
“The race at Goodwood will be a nice race to watch, we will see what happens there and then see if any of the horses running there are coming to Deauville.
“Our horse is very well and the Marois is the right race for him.”
