Godolphin’s Dawn Approach and Farhh are the star names among 49 entries in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on July 31.
The Jim Bolger-trained Dawn Approach is a red-hot favourite for the Derby this weekend but connections are keen to keep his options open regarding his optimum trip.
Farhh, who finished second in no less than four Group Ones last year, was an impressive winner of the Lockinge at Newbury on his return.
Aidan O’Brien has 15 entries, including Saturday’s easy Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Magician, last year’s St James’s Palace Stakes winner Most Improved and Lockinge flop Declaration Of War.
Other three-year-olds in the mix include the 2000 Guineas second and fourth, Glory Awaits and Toronado while the Irish and French 1000 Guineas winners Just The Judge and Flotilla are also entered.
John Gosden’s Elusive Kate has won two Group Ones and is in the mix for a third.
Patrick Barbe, racing manager to her owner Teruya Yoshida, said: “It will be up to John Gosden but the Sussex Stakes is an option for Elusive Kate.”
