Farhh takes in a new country on his latest voyage for a maiden Group One win with a clash with Moonlight Cloud in Sunday’s Prix du Moulin.
Just four face the starter over a mile at Longchamp, with Saeed Bin Suroor’s colt facing respite from Frankel, who has hammered him by distances of six and seven lengths in the Sussex Stakes and the Juddmonte International.
Farhh has been close in several of the summer’s other prestige events, closing for third behind So You Think in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes and pushing Nathaniel all the way to the line in the Eclipse.
“We thought a mile-and-a-quarter was his best trip but we’re giving him another chance at a mile,” said Bin Suroor.
“He has finished second behind Frankel twice and is still in good condition. It would be very nice if he can finally win a Group One.”
More familiar with top-flight success is Freddie Head’s wonderful filly Moonlight Cloud, who got as close to any horse has ever managed when almost catching the mighty Black Caviar at Royal Ascot.
She went on to claim a second Prix Maurice de Gheest in impressive style at Deauville before Head stepped her back to a mile again in the Prix Jacques Le Marois.
The race was not kind to Moonlight Cloud, who was in all sorts of trouble before flashing home for fourth behind Excelebration.
“She was very unlucky last time but I couldn’t be happier with her at home – she’s very well,” the trainer said.
