Veteran jockey Jimmy Cassidy has notched the 100th Group One of his career after Zoustar won the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.
Cassidy joins George Moore and Roy Higgins as the only Australasian jockeys to ride a century of Group One winners.
Zoustar travelled the widest of the 11 runners in the Coolmore and he pounced on the leaders at the 200m.
The colt, which figured in a multi-million stud deal on the eve of the race, put the issue beyond doubt at the 100m and raced on for a clear-cut win.
Trainer Chris Waller said the occasion belonged to Cassidy.
“It’s hard to take the moment away from Jimmy,” he said. “He’s been a big help to me as well as a lot of trainers.”
Cassidy said Waller had played a significant role in reaching the milestone.
“For the opportunities he has given me over the last couple of years I can’t thank him enough,” Cassidy said.
