Stablemates Wine Tales and Ballet Suite are heading in different directions in search of maiden Group One wins.

The Chris Waller-trained fillies were both entered for Saturday’s Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville but Wines Tales will be the only one to travel to Adelaide.

Ballet Suite will be saved for the Brisbane winter carnival and a possible tilt at the Queensland Oaks.

“We have decided to keep them apart,” Waller’s racing manager Liam Prior said.

“Wine Tales is set to go from Sydney to Adelaide on Thursday and Hugh Bowman will ride her in the Oaks.

“She should get her chance in a Group One over 2000 metres on firmer ground than last time.”

Wine Tales has won two of her 10 starts and been placed five times including her last-start second to Hi World in the Group Three Frank Packer Plate (2000m) on a soft Randwick track last Saturday week.

She is raced by the Ingham family and is out of Vinavion, a $1 million yearling bought by Bob Ingham after he sold his Woodlands racing and breeding operation to Sheikh Mohammed.

Ballet Suite was a fast-closing 1-1/2 lengths fourth in the Group One Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) won by Fenway on March 28.

She then finished eighth in the Australian Oaks (2400m) on a soft track after being checked early in the race.

Fenway will take her place in the Australasian Oaks after a troublesome hoof abscess, which kept her out of the Randwick Classic, burst last week.

Blake Shinn, rode Fenway to win the Vinery, again has the mount for the filly trained by his stepfather and stepbrother, Lee and Shannon Hope.

Wine Tales has drawn barrier eight in the Oaks field of 16 plus four emergencies while Fenway has six and Fontein Ruby two.

Fontein Ruby is the $3.50 favourite ahead of Fenway at $4.60 with Wine Tales rated a $10 chance in updated markets following the barrier draw.
