Class galloper Someday won’t be lacking for fitness when he returns to racing for his new trainer at Doomben.

Someday hasn’t started since finishing fourth in the Group Two Victory Stakes behind his new Tony Gollan-trained stablemate Temple of Boom at Eagle Farm on April 26.

Under Kelso Wood, Someday won two Listed races last year – the Glasshouse Handicap and the Brisbane Handicap.

Gollan said he had put Someday through a full pre-training ritual in the lead up to Saturday’s race.

“He has been out for pre training and then we have had him in the stables for a couple of weeks,” Gollan said.

“We have been able to give him two jump-outs and he should be ready for Saturday.”

Gollan said while Someday would meet an above average field in the Listed Keith Noud Hcp (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday, he had won first-up and been placed a couple of times when fresh.

“He has won up to 1600 metres but his record at the Doomben 1200 is two wins from three attempts,” he said.

“Also he loves Doomben as he has won six of his ten starts at the track.”

Gollan will aim Someday towards the summer sprints including the Lough Neagh Stakes and then possibly step him up to 1600 metres.

Premier Brisbane jockey Tim Bell will ride Someday while Gollan has booked Tegan Harrison for his other Keith Noud runner Rocket To Glory.

The gelding was a good fifth to Hopfgartern in a 1350m open last start and drops back to the 1200m although Gollan is still convinced the horse will stretch out to 1400 metres in the future.

Gollan will also have four runners in the three-year-old handicap including the promising Yeager.

“He will obviously go better once the distances get longer but Yeager is coming along nicely,” he said.

Yeager, who has raced four times, was placed at his first three starts and broke through to win at Eagle Farm on August 2.
