A Queensland harness trainer and driver has been disqualified from racing for two years for putting bets on hundreds of races he was involved in.
Trevor Lambourn has also been fined $10,000.
Racing Stewards Queensland found that between February 2012 and February 2015, Lambourn placed almost 400 bets on horses he drove in races, other horses in races he participated in, and horses he trained but did not drive.
Chief Harness Steward David Farquharson said Mr Lambourn pleaded not guilty to two charges, but was later found to be guilty.
“Based on the seriousness of the offences and the quantity of bets placed, Stewards imposed penalties of a $10,000 fine for the first charge and a two-year disqualification on the second charge,” Mr Farquharson said.
His disqualification will be backdated to February 27 – the date he was first suspended.
Suspicions were raised when Lambourn was winning a race at Albion Park that day before finishing last by 24m.
