Trainer Gerald Ryan’s prediction there was nothing between Peace Force and Solicit proved correct when they ran the quinella in the Glenlogan Park Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.
Solicit had narrowly beaten Peace Force at their previous clash at Rosehill in the Darley Crown two weeks ago.
But Peace Force ($8) reversed the result when she defeated Solicit ($7.50) by a short head with three quarters of a length to Tukiyo ($71) in third place.
Ryan said Peace Force met Solicit 1.5kg better from Rosehill and was also fitter.
“Peace Force has been a most consistent mare with me and Solicit has also proved consistent since she joined our stable,” Ryan said.
Ryan said the mares would take different paths to the Group One Tattersall’s Tiara at the Gold Coast on June 20.
“Peace Force will go on to the Dane Ripper Stakes in a fortnight and then the Tiara. Solicit will go home and get ready for the Tiara from there,” he said.
Winning jockey Tim Bell spoke with Brenton Avdulla, who rode Peace Force in the Darley Crown, to get some tips on how to ride the mare.
“He said to get her out and going. It worked out perfectly when the pace was on and she got the run of the race. We were then able to make our run coming to the turn,” he said.
Tye Angland said Solicit had a nice run and was able to push up on the fence in the straight but the winner had been too strong.
