Pasadena Girl has upset her more fancied rivals in the Talindert Stakes but trainer Peter Moody wasn’t shocked by the rank outsider’s Listed win.
The daughter of Savabeel was sent out as a $61 chance in Saturday’s 1100-metre race for two-year-olds at Flemington but after tracking the leader Take Pride, Pasadena Girl sprinted well under jockey Vlad Duric and scored by a length.

“The last thing I said to Vlad when I legged him up was that I think this is a real good filly,” Moody said.
“She’s done everything above what she should be doing at this point in her career.
“She’s an immature Savabeel filly but she’s always shown a tad of brilliance at home. I’ve been taken with her from day one.”
Stay With Me ($6), a daughter of five-time Group One winner Miss Finland, made a run from the back to loom and battled on to grab second, shading Take Pride ($6.50) who held on for third.
Moody said he was likely to send Pasadena Girl to the paddock for a break but he could consider the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes in three weeks.
David Hayes will make a decision on whether Stay With Me stays in Melbourne for a Group Three race at Flemington or heads to Sydney.
“I thought it was a pretty good debut,” Hayes said.
“She was just a bit green at different stages but I loved her work from the 600 metres to the 200 metres.”
