Damien Oliver has won an appeal against a suspension but still needs to win another if he is to ride Wandjina in the Australian Guineas.
Oliver was suspended for careless riding twice in three days last week, putting his participation at Flemington on Saturday in jeopardy.
The jockey, who won his 106th Group One race on Saturday aboard Suavito in the Futurity Stakes, won an appeal on Monday against a 12-meeting ban he incurred at Ballarat last Thursday.
Oliver has also appealed the decision and severity of an eight-meeting suspension from Caulfield on Saturday which will be heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Tuesday.
He needs to win that appeal or get at least one meeting shaved off the penalty to ride at the Guineas meeting.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained Wandjina, winner of the Group Three CS Hayes Stakes first-up at Flemington, is one of the leading chances at $8 for Saturday’s feature race.
