Peter Moody is counting on a wet Brisbane winter to deliver Bring Me The Maid her first Group One win, starting with the Doomben 10,000.

One of Queensland’s premier sprints, the 10,000 has been a hoodoo race for three-year-old fillies and only the Sydney-trained Sea Siren can claim a place for her kind on an honour roll that spans more than eight decades.

Sea Siren defeated Scenic Blast in the 2012 renewal after winning the BTC Cup before failing in the Stradbroke Handicap.

But after an impressive first-up fourth in the BTC Cup, Bring Me The Maid is one of the favourites on Saturday as she continues a Brisbane campaign focused on Group One racing with the Stradbroke and Tattersall’s Tiara also on her program.

“It has been our plan to run her in the four Group One races which will suit her,” Moody said.

“I know it is a big ask but we think she is up to that class, especially if we get a wet track.”

A Doomben 10,000 win would put Moody in elite company.

He would join Tommy Smith, Dick Roden and Jim Griffiths to train the winners of the winter carnival’s biggest races – the Stradbroke, the Doomben 10,000, the Doomben Cup and the Brisbane Cup.

In 11 starts, Bring Me The Maid has won three races, posting Group Two wins in the Magic Night Stakes and Silver Shadow Stakes.

She first emerged as a Group One winner-in-waiting with her minor placing in last year’s Golden Slipper.

Moody spelled Bring Me The Maid in Queensland after her Slipper placing.

“She seems to thrive in Queensland and she has done well since being there this year,” he said.

Sacred Star passed a vet’s inspection and was a late entry for the race.

The New Zealand sprinter had to breeze up in front of a vet after missing the BTC Cup because of a stone bruise.

“He worked well on Tuesday morning and there was no reason he shouldn’t run,” trainer Tony Pike said.

Hong Kong-based Zac Purton will ride Sacred Star who drew barrier seven.

In an open betting race, Sacred Star firmed to $9 after drawing barrier seven while Bring Me The Maid shortened from $10 to $7 after coming up with gate two.

Srikandi ($6) has replaced Our Boy Malachi as favourite with the Hawkes Racing-trained sprinter easing from $5 to $7 after drawing barrier 12.
