David Payne has moved on from the loss of Criterion from his stable and is concentrating on the future.

Dual Group One winner Criterion is now in the care of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig who are preparing him for the Hong Kong International meeting next month.

Among the horses Payne is focusing on are Trust My Luck in the two-year-old race at Rosehill on Saturday and Group winner Lilliburlero who runs in the Listed Starlight Stakes.

Goldstone is also an entry for the Starlight but will be redirected to either Brisbane or Melbourne.

“I think the Sydney race is too strong for Goldstone so he will go to either Doomben or Moonee Valley,” Payne said.

“Larry Cassidy will ride him if we decide on Brisbane and Chad Schofield will ride if we go to Moonee Valley.

“Lilliburlero will definitely run in the Starlight with Glyn Schofield to ride. She has come back from Melbourne in good order.”

The winner of the Group Three Triscay Stakes in February, Lilliburlero mixed her form in her next five starts and was given a break.

She made her return in the Group Three Mumm and finished alongside Shamal Wind in a dead heat for third in the race won by straight course specialist Vain Queen.

A daughter of Redoute’s Choice out of Group One winning sprinter Regimental Gal, Lilliburlero will carry 56kg in the Starlight with Aeronautical the 59kg topweight, one kilogram above Dothraki.”

Although Trust My Luck is a Magic Millions graduate, Payne and the colt’s owners are not planning to attack the $2 million sales-related race at the Gold Coast in January.

“The plan is to kick him off on Saturday and give him a break,” Payne said.

“There isn’t much time to get the young ones ready for the Slipper because it is early next year.”

The $3.5 million Golden Slipper (1200m) is at Rosehill on March 21.

Trust My Luck has had two barrier trials to get him ready for his debut in which he will be ridden by Tye Angland.
