The race for the Sydney jockeys’ premiership appears to be all but over with a flu-stricken James McDonald stood down from riding at Canterbury.
McDonald, who began the day on 91.5 wins, behind Hugh Bowman on 94 will not ride again today after doctors stood him down, following the opening race.
Blake Shinn who is 3-1/2 winners behind Bowman is still a mathematical chance, but all of his remaining four rides would need to be winners for him to claim the title.
