Jockey Dwayne Dunn will be out to improve a stand-out Caulfield Group One record when he rides in the Futurity Stakes on Saturday.
Dunn is among the top echelon of jockeys in Australia but when it comes to Group One races his record at Caulfield is second to none.
Eight of his 15 Group One victories have come at the track.
Dunn partners the Hawkes Racing-trained Entirely Platinum in the weight-for-age Futurity Stakes (1400m), a race he won for the stable in 2013 on All Too Hard.
He also has Group One rides in the Oakleigh Plate (Shamal Wind) and Blue Diamond Stakes (Lake Geneva).
Lake Geneva’s stablemate Entirely Platinum led first-up at Caulfield in the CF Orr Stakes a fortnight ago, finishing second to Dissident.
Dunn said the gelding would strip fitter but may also be looking for further.
“It was probably a PB for him over that trip against that class of horse,” Dunn said.
“I would probably prefer it over a bit further, but he ran so well and they were happy with the way he pulled up.
“I’m looking forward to him progressing again.”
After winning first-up in Sydney last campaign, Entirely Platinum was caught out on a wet track at Randwick in the Chelmsford Stakes before a narrow defeat at the hands of Gris Caro at Caulfield.
He was then given a spell following a disappointing Turnbull Stakes run at Flemington in October.
Dunn believes Entirely Platinum is a bigger and stronger galloper this time as niggling injuries counted against the horse during the spring.
“He ran super and just missed at Caulfield but his other runs were below par from what we know he can do,” Dunn said.
Entirely Platinum is on the third line of betting at $6.50 behind $1.75 favourite Dissident and Driefontein ($6).
