Injuries suffered in a barrier accident seem certain to keep talented colt Dothraki out of the spring.

The Gerald Ryan-trained three-year-old took fright in the barriers before a trial at Rosehill on Monday when Hugh Bowman bailed out of the stall next to him when his horse played up.

“He cut himself badly,” Ryan said.

“We won’t really know the extent of the injuries until tomorrow but it looks bad to me and I’d have to say the spring is in doubt.”

Dothraki twice placed at Group level in the autumn, running third to I’m All The Talk in the Skyline Stakes and second to Sidestep in the Pago Pago.

Sidestep went on to run second to Overreach in the Golden Slipper in which Dothraki finished last on the slow track.

The news was better for the stable and owners Triple Crown syndications with Flying Snitzel winning her barrier trial ahead of a campaign which could culminate in the Myer Classic in November.

The mare has a win over Norzita to her credit in the Kewney Stakes at Flemington in March and is scheduled to resume in the Group Three Sheraco Stakes (1400m) on Saturday week.

Stablemate Charlie Boy will head to Melbourne on Saturday to begin his spring campaign in the Group Two Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington in preference to the Dulcify Quality (1400m) at Randwick.

Charlie Boy’s debut win at Rosehill last November was the first in Australia for his sire Myboycharlie.

He went on to run third in the Silver Slipper before finishing midfield in the Golden Slipper and also the the two other triple crown races, the Sires’ Produce and Champagne Stakes, both of which were won by Guelph.

Sires’ Produce runner-up Scandiva is among the 21 entries for the Danehill while Guelph heads the 13 nominations for the Furious Stakes in Sydney.
