151 horses are still in the running to win the race that stops the nation, the 2010 Melbourne Cup on November 2.
The world’s largest stable Godolphin has eight still entered to try and win them an elusive Cup, having finished 2nd with Central Park in 1999, Give the Slip in 2001 and Crime Scene in 2009.
Bart Cummings has declared 11 horses to try and win him a record 13th Melbourne Cup, while Lloyd Williams owns 13 horses still in contention.
Notable horses to drop out of contention include Norman Robinson Stakes winner Shamoline Warrior, Queensland Derby runner up Kutchinsky and 2007 Melbourne Cup winner Efficient.
Japan has only one horse still entered, that being 9yo Tokai Trick.
Europeans still in contentions include Irish St Leger entrants Rite of Passage, Profound Beauty, Eastern Aria, Sans Frontieres and Tactic.
The Irish St Leger will be run this Saturday night.
Last year’s winner Shocking was the favourite before markets were suspended pending first declarations.
