Emirates Stakes Day is the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, taking place on Saturday the 10th of November. Emirates Stakes Day is known as ‘family day’, and includes a fine day of racing and fun for all ages to enjoy. There are nine events on the day, including Victoria’s premier 1600m event, the $1,005,000 Group One Emirates Stakes, and the $1,002,500 weight-for-age Patinack Farm Classic.
Emirates Stakes Day is the fastest growing day for the four day carnival, with over 85,000 people attending in 2011. It’s not only the two prestigious Group 1 races that draw crowds to Flemington for the day however, with Emirates Stakes Day Fashions on the Field and lots of roving entertainment also adding to the atmosphere and spectacle.
In many ways, Emirates Stakes Day is a celebration of the entire four-day carnival, with a special children’s activity area and a special performance by Reece Mastin at 3.20pm. There are also craft activities, roving entertainers, face painting, mini golf, and an animal farm set up at Flemington Racecourse for the day, all of which combine to make an entertaining and exciting family day out.
