Top colt Smart Missile has been retired and will stand at Arrowfield Stud this spring.
Arrowfield supremo John Messara has welcomed the addition of the three-year-old to its stallion roster which also boasts outstanding sires such as Redoute’s Choice and Snitzel.
“Smart Missile made the impossible look easy, and in our view it’s that X-factor which separates the exceptional from the merely outstanding,” Messara said.
“Smart Missile is absolutely everything we look for in a stallion prospect.”
Trained by Anthony Cummings, Smart Missile was the only horse to beat Sepoy during his two-year-old season, upsetting him in the Group Two Todman Stakes last autumn.
He was an unlucky second to Manawanui in the Group One Golden Rose in the spring and was spelled after failing to run out a strong 1600 metres when fifth to Helmet in the Caulfield Guineas.
By Fastnet Rock, Smart Missile raced six times for three wins and a second and more than $540,000 in prize money.
His service fee is yet to be announced.
