George Ryder Stakes winner Metal Bender will take no further part in the autumn carnival.
Trainer Chris Waller said heat was detected in Metal Bender’s front legs after he worked on Monday morning.
He said the talented but injury-prone gelding would now be sent for a spell.
Waller is now likely to have three runners – Albert The Fat, Shoot Out and Danleigh – in Saturday’s Doncaster Mile with a final decision on Rangirangdoo to be made before Tuesday’s acceptances.
The trainer is concerned Rangirangdoo’s 58kg topweight will be too much for him to repeat his 2010 victory and his other option is the weight-for-age Queen Elizabeth Stakes a week later.
