Araldo took flight and jumped a steel fence after a flag believed to be waved in his face by a kid after the Melbourne Cup. This caused the 7th placed getter in the Cup to fracture his pastern which was deemed to be too severe for the horse to be saved and was later euthanised.
This has come after pre race favourite Admire Rakti collapsed and died in his stall post race.
Sadly a second horse has died following the Melbourne Cup. Araldo has been put down after fracturing his pastern while returning to stables
