Randwick takes centre stage for Australia racing this Saturday, with the Randwick Guineas (1600m) highlighting a fabulous day of racing. Down below are ten runners that should be backed and backed with confidence this Saturday:

Ascot Race Eight Number 3 Highly Secret:

Grant Williams trained mare who worked home strongly last Saturday over 1400m when third to Can’t Say Too Much, beaten narrowly. Rise to the mile looks perfect given she is by High Chapparal, she draws well, Peter Hall is riding in a real purple patch, as is the stable. Ticks all the boxes.

Best Odds: $3.20

Flemington Race Six Number 1 Politeness:

Really keen here on Politeness. She was enormous when resuming at Caulfield in the Bellmaine, running third to Tycoon Tara after sitting wide with no cover throughout. Hoping she can get cover from the draw, because on facts and figures, and on the first up run, she just looks the one, plus the form has been franked with Tycoon Tara winning against last Saturday.

Flemington Race Seven Number 9 Kermadec:

Really keen on Kermadec to win the Guineas. His two runs in Sydney have been outstanding, starting off with a fourth to Scissor Kick in the Eskimo Prince (1200m) before rattling home late to run a close third in the Hobartville Stakes (1400m). The switch to Melbourne, in particular Flemington, looks perfect. He was an impressive winner of the Carbine Club on Derby Day over this track/distance, and he looks to have improved lengths from that. Nash coming over from Honkers to ride is a really positive lead about this horse and his chances, and overall, he is the one to beat clearly IMO.

Best Odds: $3.40

Flemington Race Nine Number 9 Bec Said No Credit:

Bec Said No Credit could well challenge Politeness for bet of the day at Flemington. She ran last time out in the Kilmore Cup and was given every chance by Dwayne Dunn, and the mare looked the winner with 300m to go, but she just felt the pinch late given it was her first run since January 10. She should take good improvement off that, Michelle Payne is back on and she is drawn the right part of the track by the time this race will be run and won.

Morphettville Parks Race Two Number 2 Rifleman:

$2.25? Really!? He should be $1.50. Clearly the good thing for the weekend IMO. His form dropped off towards the end of the Spring, but he was taking on the likes of Under The Louvre and Atmospherical, who have both go on to perform at Group l level. Rifleman hasn’t trialled to return to racing, but if he is anywhere near right, he should bolt in.

Best Odds: $2.25

Newcastle Race Five Number 2 Exemption:

This gelding looked great overs at Kembla Grange last start and despite being ridden more aggressively, he kicked on very strongly to win and break his maiden status at just start number two. He came from well back to rattle home on debut at Bathurst, so he has already shown some versatility. Doesn’t look to be much speed here, so even though he is better ridden with cover, I expect Rachel Murray to roll forward again and take a power of beating.

Best Odds: $6.00

Randwick Race One Number 9 English:

Punters should start the day off on the right note thanks to English. I think she is a definite Slipper contender and she gets her chance to prove it here. She put up an amazing to win on debut at Kembla, missing the start badly, settling back, getting inside runs then bursting into the clear and winning with ridiculous ease. She has since trialled, and went like an absolute bomb there, winning by over five and running slick time. She’s the real deal, and I am surprised $51 is/was on offer for her in regards to the Slipper. She should be a $10-$11 chance, so I think $2.80 on offer is generous here.

Best Odds: $2.80

Randwick Race Two Number 3 Vancouver:

I’ve been loyal to Vancouver, and I see no reason to jump off him. I was very impressed by the win of his in the Canonbury (1100m) at Rosehill a few weeks back, sprinting brilliantly from last in a slowly run race to overhaul his rivals and jump straight to near the top in Golden Slipper betting. He has since trialled here, and won like the star he is, winning by a space under no real pressure. One think in his favour ahead of Headwater is the fact he doesn’t mind getting down and dirty to win a race. Headwater is yet to taste real race pressure.

Best Odds: $3.40

Randwick Race Five Number 6 Telepathic:

Pretty keen here on Telepathic, who was backed as if unbeatable first up here, and aided by a lovely steer from Jason Collett, the Group l performed mare got the job done to win. Collett sticks, she’s drawn well, won two from three second up, and as I said, for a Group l performer, she gets on the limit…it’ll take a good one to beat her here.

Best Odds: $3.40

Sunshine Coast Race Six Number 9 He Don’t Care:

In a tricky program on Saturday, I think this bloke is the best at the Sunny Coast. He is on the quick back up after racing on Sunday here, where he just absolutely blitzed them, winning by six without being fully extended. Love the fact he is on the quick back up, and he does appear as though he’ll get over quite comfortably from the wide gate. Note also that Damian Browne is riding at 55kg, which isn’t easy for him, so that’s a good lead.

Best Odds: $3.10
