The quality racing continues this weekend in Australia, most notably at Rosehill with the Breeders Classic (1200m) highlighting what should be a good afternoon of racing down under. Down below are ten runners that should be backed and backed with confidence this Saturday:

Ascot Race Eight Number 1 Shalo:

This Simon Miller is absolutely flying, winning his opening three runs this prep before doing work from the wide gate last weekend over 1500m and just failing to hold out Low Tide. The rise to 1800m looks ideal and he maps very well, with the likelihood of a much softer lead, plus he draws much better than last Saturday. Pretty keen on his chances.

Odds: $4.20

Bendigo Race One Number 8 Overact:

This daughter of Exceed And Excel is on debut for Godolphin. I was keen on her when she was due to make her debut in November, but was tipped out for a spell and has come to Melbourne. Recent jump out at Sandown wasn’t as good as the trial in Sydney last year, but I was very impressed by the Sydney trial and should take a power of beating from the good draw with Yendall riding.

Odds: $5.50

Doomben Race Five Number 6 Artibai:

This Kris Lees former European is coming off a luckless second at Warwick Farm, when getting absolutely no luck at all in the straight, beaten a head by All My Loving. The trip to Brisbane has been a proven successful formula by Kris Lees and Damian Browne riding is a good booking. Will be short, but with normal luck, will be winning.

Odds: $1.80

Gold Coast Race Six Number 9 Tips ‘N’ Tales:

This Steve O’Dea mare has returned to racing in very good order, scoring a brilliant first up win at Doomben before going to Ipswich and battling on strongly when third to Requirement. I think she is better ridden a touch more quietly, and with the likelihood of a wet track, I think jockey Anthony Allen will look to ride her cold and get her away from the rail. Clearly the best horse in the race, and has the best finish.

Odds: $3.40

Morphettville Parks Race Eight Number 4 Duble Barrel Daisy:

Duble Barrel Daisy is a Darren Weir runner coming over from Victoria after a strong fourth to Elle Excite at Sandown on Australua Day, working home well from the back. She should sit much closer from the good draw, and she has the services of in form apprentice Josh Cartwright.

Odds: $4.40

Newcastle Race Two Number 1 Land Grant:

This son of High Chaparral for Kris Lees was heavily backed on debut at Muswellbrook. He sat on speed and fought on well when third to impressive winner Em Double You Bee. On face value form, this is a pretty ordinary maiden, and I think with a more conservative ride, plus with the factors of race experience, home track advantage and a good draw, he should take a power of beating.

Odds: $3.70

Rosehill Race Two Number 5 Centre Pivot:

Sam Kavanagh certainly knows when and where to place his runners, and he looks to have again placed Centre Pivot beautifully. There was plenty to like about his win two weeks ago at Randwick, coming from off the speed and letting down strongly to hold on and beat Sasenkile, who came out and won impressively last weekend. Definitely looking for 2000m now and gets a lovely weight drop.

Odds: $1.75

Sandown Race Nine Number 4 Cross Of Gold:

On an each-way scale, this looks a great bet. He made up a stack of ground out very wide on the track two back at Morphettville Parks, then came to Flemington and again did something similar when fifth to Specter. He is bursting to win a race now and finds a lovely race which is void of any real quality. If ever he was going to win another race, this is it.

Odds: $10.00

Sha Tin Race Seven Number 5 Eroico:

This bloke is a real up and comer for John Moore and Joao Moreira who scored a dominant win over this track/distance on January 25, aided by an absolute gem by Moreira, who weaved his magic to somehow get the horse home after he sat three back the fence and looked in all sorts with 200m to go, but he persisted and eventually got clear and charged away. He should get the lovely cart over from Apollo Cavalier and should prove far too good for them.

Sha Tin Race Eight Number 1 Military Attack:

He has been one of Hong Kongs best for a while now, and while he is getting on in years, he is still racing as well as ever, as we saw on International Day where he looked home in the Cup but couldn’t quite hold off the brilliant finish of Designs On Rome. That horse gets a weight pull here for beating Military Attack, but Military Attack gets a couple of big advantages here. Back to 1800m suits him, and he’ll have a decent head start on Designs On Rome, who will be forced to near last from the wide gate. I’m keen he’ll turn the tables.
