There was some great racing right across Australia on Saturday, with a couple of impressive efforts, from both horse and human, along with a couple of significant flops. Who caught our attention on the track? Find out down below:

Rosehill
Race One Number 2 Vanbrugh (2nd):
Quality youngster for Chris Waller who resumed here. He got back in the run, wide with cover. 250m out he looked the winner, but he just died on the run and was held late. Could develop into a Stakes horse, maybe even a Golden Rose chance. Well above average, and an excellent return here.
Caulfield
Race One Number 2 Jalan Jalan (3rd):
Really good run from this filly. Got badly held up at a crucial stage on the corner and at the top of the straight, then got clear and really savaged the line with purpose. Looks a nice type who will go close to bouncing back to the winners list next time out.
Race Five Number 3 Raposo (4th):
Make your mind up on this horse. But I think had he got a clear passage in the straight, he definitely goes to the line with Volcanic Ash, and may have even won the race. In a real purple patch at the moment, and there is no reason to jump off.

Rosehill:
Race Three Number 2 Missvonn (8th):
Granted she had to carry a fair bit of weight on a heavy track, but she was very plain here after receiving every chance. I think she might be done this prep and the spelling paddock could be on the cards.
Caulfield:
Race Eight Number 1 Lord Of The Sky (7th):
Perhaps helped by an ordinary ride from Oliver, but this horse was very weak off the back of a couple of Group l placings. He bolted in this race last year, but he did absolutely nothing here. Cannot be trusted as a horse when he starts even money/odds on.
RIDE OF THE DAY:
Rosehill Race Eight Number 8 Hollywood Bound – Blake Shinn:
Gee this was a peach. Sat out the back, peeled wide on the turn, cuddled and cuddled before letting down powerfully and putting the race away in a couple of strides. It was a frustrating day for him, but it ended in a fabulous way.
LOOK AWAY NOW…:
Caulfield Race Eight Number 1 Lord Of The Sky- Damien Oliver:
Jumped awkwardly and was in the second half of the field early on before Ollie shot forward to sit four and five wide no cover. He was gone on the turn and weakened out to run seventh. Ollie had been struck down with a bad virus this week, so perhaps we might blame that for him not thinking straight, because this is a ride he’d like to forget.
