Mother nature wasn’t too kind on Randwick and Flemington, but the sun was well and truly shining on the Gold Coast to see Leebaz win the Hollindale Stakes. Who caught our attention on the track? Find out down below:

Randwick-
Race Six Number 6 Hollywood Bound (2nd):
Stick solid with this bloke. Cruised up to them in the front and would have won had he not bumped into the best wet track horse in Australia. He’ll be winning races sooner rather than later.
Flemington
Race Eight Number 6 Mr Utopia (1st):
Certain somebody tipped him to win, and god bless the former WA galloper. He was bolting out the back, and all he needed was a gap. He got it with 75m to go and just savaged the line to win. A race like the Wangoom during the Carnival at the Bool looks perfect for him now. Very impressive debut for Smerdon.
Gold Coast
Race One Number 4 Inauguration (9th):
A ride Hugh Bowman would love to forget. Three wide no cover, and zero initiative. Can’t sit wide no cover at the Gold Coast and win. The horse is better than that, so don’t drop off from a Derby perspective.
Race Eight Number 3 Precedence (5th):
Ran well in the Hollindale first up last year and he did the same in 2015, working home strongly late in a slowly run race. Definitely on target for the staying features this Winter.

Flemington:
Race Four Number 7 Rawnaq (Last):
Well supported today, and though he isn’t 100% happy on a wet track, it was a very, very weak finish considering he was beaten by an 80/1 chance and a couple of jumpers.
