Some quality gallopers stepped out at the Rosehill barrier trials on Tuesday, and a couple of Group l performers caught my eye as they target Spring riches. Find out who down below:
BLACK BOOK: Black Book these runners HERE so youย don’t miss their next run!
Rosehill- Tuesday, July 21, Weather Fine, Track Heavy 9.
Heat Three- Beaten Up (4th):
In what was a classy field, I reckon this bloke was the best of the lot. He jumped alright, sat off the speed and while he never looked like winning, he did look to travel easily throughout and was under a nice hold from Schofield on the line. He wasn’t far off Hartnell two starts back, and that horse is the current Melbourne Cup favourite. Interesting to see how Beaten Up goes during the Spring.
Heat Four- Better Land (2nd):
In a field that contained the Doncaster winner and VRC Derby victor, Better Land looked the most impressive of the lot. He wasn’t asked to a great deal early on, settling off the speed before being asked to quicken by Avdulla, and the horse took some narrow gaps between runners, burst through and was very strong through the line under not much pressure. He is one of the best bred types in Australia, and maybe time and maturity is kicking in and we might see the best of him this Spring.
