Flemington- Friday, August 21, Weather Fine, Track Good 4.
Heat Five- Afleet Esprit (1st):
Classy mare for the Hayes/Dabernig yard who looked quite sharp in this trial. She showed good speed to lead early on before going on to win the trial comfortably, beating home Group l performer Leebaz. Sharp win.
Heat Six- Chivalry (1st):
He has been an absolute nightmare to follow as a punter throughout his career, but there were encouraging signs after this jump out win. He sat outside the leader throughout and looked as though he was going to drift out of it, but he picked up strongly under no pressure to go on and win the trial narrowly. He won’t be getting my money, but if you like him, I can report he has come back in good order.
Heat Nine- Galaxy Pegasus (1st):
Talented galloper for the Hayes/Dabernig team who didn’t really fire a shot in the William Reid during the Autumn, but he looks set to be a contender in the Spring riches after this impressive jump out win. He sat outside the leader before taking the lead at the top of the straight under no pressure and kicked clear to score comfortably.
Heat Ten- Lucky Lago (2nd):
Former Team Snowden mare who is now with Team Freedman, and she looks to be loving life in Victoria based on this jump out. She got away well and sat wide on speed throughout and was placed under little pressure to eventually run second in what was a very good display. She’ll be suited in the 2000m mares race on Stakes Day I think.
